Graphic Designer

Job Summary

We’re looking for a full time, permanent Graphic Designer to join our team who is organized and ready to create outstanding visuals here at BlackSquare. Reporting to the Art Director, you will be working collaboratively with the Independent Brands team to design assets for web, social, and print for our independent wine and craft beer brands: WineCollective, Canada Craft Club, and Kwaf. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Use our brand guidelines to create original pieces for print and web, including (but not limited to): website assets, logos, posters, ads, brochureware, merchandise, illustrations, infographics, etc.
  • Modify existing previously created graphics with new/updated information.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions with marketing/sales/operations department leads to develop ideas and portray concepts in order to improve our advertising of products and services.
  • Maintain brand consistency throughout all of our marketing projects
  • Communicate with Art Director and department/brand leads to ensure deadlines of projects are met.
  • Execute all design work based on creative brief and instructions from the Art Director.

Experience, Skills and Competencies

  • 2-5 years of professional graphic design experience in a high volume company setting
  • Proven understanding of UX strategy
  • Solid design portfolio
  • Advanced in using Adobe Creative Cloud applications
  • 2+ years of experience in printing processes and pre-press
  • Must have excellent visual design skills and attention to details
  • Have exceptional organizational skills and multitasking capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively

Position: Account Manager

Start date: Immediately

We are in search of a full-time Account Manager to join our team and manage the day-to-day operations of our clients’ business in Canada from our Calgary, Alberta head office.

This employee will generally be required to work Monday to Friday, 10am-6pm, although flex hours may be required to accommodate operations in different international time zones.


You might be the perfect fit for this contract position if you have:

  • Account management experience in the wine industry
  • Worked in a senior position for a liquor importation agency or liquor order desk
  • Completed your WSET Level 2 or higher
  • Worked in liquor retail at a management level, with an emphasis on premium wine sales
  • Gained experience working at a winery in a sales or export role
  • Experience in liquor logistics or merchandising
  • Published wine reviews, blogs or other wine-related content

You should also possess the following skills and abilities:

Account Management and Client Success

Having a proven track record of managing client success and relationship building are foundational to this role. You will have worked with key accounts and managed communications and challenges through project coordination, problem solving and proactive risk management. Coordination with suppliers and shippers requires diligent communication and deadline management. You will be tasked with hard deadlines and need to manage multiple tasks of high importance, from: sourcing product, creating and maintaining communication with agencies, sustaining inventory controls, create wine content and profiles, and overseeing the daily logistics of orders.


Astute Attention to Detail

This role requires extreme attention to detail. You will work with the Procurement Manager to help ensure inventory standards are met, and all deliverables are completed on time and accurately. This role is meant for someone who can juggle multiple responsibilities and deliverables while maintaining exceptional quality standards. Precision and accuracy in executing defined processes and managing detailed data management is key to your success. You have the ability to understand and interpret financial data. This role requires you to oversee purchase orders, from preparation and recording to tracking and managing risks. Analyze inventory to determine product performance for sales, gross margin, inventory turnover, new/aged inventory, and ROI. Seek opportunity buys, analyze performance by style, react to trends and opportunities. Demonstrated proficiency in inventory practices with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.

It is essential to have a comprehensive working knowledge of the following, or similar software applications, or be eager at learning: Basecamp, Lightspeed, Liquor Connect, Google Suite (sheets), and other ecommerce platforms like Big Commerce and ShipStation.

Hours: Full-time. Standard business hours; however, flex hours may be required to accommodate operations in different international time zones. This may include Sundays and evenings. Alternative scheduling will be dependent on demand and growth.

  • Worked for a liquor importation agency in a senior sales, or order desk role
  • Completed your WSET Level 2 or higher
  • Worked in liquor retail with an emphasis on premium wine sales, with experience managing Connect Logistics account
  • Gained experience working at a winery and managed export sales

  • Written wine reviews, blogs or other alcohol related content

From customer service, packing boxes, scheduling deliveries, working at the wine store, photography, and of course, wine and beer tasting.

BlackSquare Inc. is on the search for a Project Manager with a skill for client service to join our growing team.  In this role you will assist senior management with prioritizing sales opportunities, provide guidance to our support and project staff and drive growth of our project management methodology and tools. This role requires a self starter with not only strong project management skills but also a natural ability to manage people and change.

Project Manager Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with incoming sales opportunities to support management in prioritizing client projects.
  • Lead four direct reports in areas of customer service and project management and provide ongoing guidance support and performance management .
  • Work cross-functionally with project stakeholders to define the scope, deliverables and requirements of e-commerce projects resulting in detailed work plans.
  • Determine and communicate the resources (time, budget, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project.
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Facilitate the execution of the project according to the project plan.
  • Develop forms and records to document project activities, keeping all stakeholders updated.
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure successful completion. 
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets organizational standards. 
  • Monitor project budget and track project costs; report project cost variances to project stakeholders on a regular basis. 
  • Identify and communicate project related risks; Develop and present project risk contingency plans. 
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase. 
  • Conduct formal project closure processes and communicate lessons learned to project stakeholders. 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of project management related experience, e-commerce or digital marketing experience considered an asset.
  • 3+ years in client service or business development role considered an asset.
  • Post-Secondary Education.  Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge of project management processes and terminology, CAPM or PMP designation preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
  • Expertise with project management software.
  • Knowledge of CRM, SEO tactics, Google Analytics, and user experience software considered an asset.
  • Ability to occasionally travel as required for key project events.

Import and Logistics Manager

Location: Port Melbourne, Australia

We are looking to fill a full time position in our Port Melbourne office. The Import and Logistics Manager will be the point person coordinating inbound wine and outgoing customer orders. Working with our warehouse team locally, and procurement team in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, this role will be dynamic and be responsible for Australian daily operations.

  • Worked for a liquor agency in the logistics department (min 2 years)
  • Strong relationships with wineries and import agencies
  • Have working knowledge of liquor laws and regulations

You should also possess the following skills and abilities:
